We’ll start this post by hoping that all our customers and suppliers from all over the world remain safe and healthy during this pandemic.
There is no doubt that the Covid-19 virus has changed many things since it emerged in November/December last year. People often view NEWS posts on websites as signs of activity within a company, we haven’t had any posts in 2020 due to the cancellation of events we would have attended, conferences we would have sponsored and attended and school incursions we would have performed. So, this quick post is to just to give you a quick update on Tribotix and how we are handling the Covid-19 situation.
Tribotix has been very very lucky for two reasons. Firstly Newcastle (NSW) has remained relatively untouched (so far) by Covid-19, we have had government restrictions placed on us but we have been able to continue operating remotely during that time. We have also been very lucky that our local customers have continued to purchase from us, and we have survived the first 6 months of 2020 without any government assistance. Our main area of business is education and research, and with International Students being unable to return to study in Australia & New Zealand, Universities in these countries have faced enormous financial pressure – this has affected Tribotix as most Universities have initiated a freeze on equipment purchases for the remainder of 2020.
So, our aim for the remainder of the year is to survive and be ready for 2021 and hope that the financial situation in Schools and Universities in our region improves. We are using the remainder of 2020 to:
- Continue to grow the business, we are speaking with a number of companies about reselling their products and expanding the range of products we offer.
- Creating video content for our customers that will include Video Tutorials, Unboxing Videos, and Product Review Videos.
- Creating a fortnightly email/newsletter to keep our customers informed about new products and what’s been happening in the world of robotics in our region.
- Increasing our Social Media presence. At the moment we only post occasionally when something ‘really’ interesting happens or we get a new product that we are ‘really’ excited about. We are planning to increase our engagement with our customers and build upon the community that we have created.
We’re sure the next 6 months will be equally as challenging as the first 6 months of 2020. We will continue to work hard to develop our business, as we believe what we are doing is making a difference within the local STEAM community. But the main thing for the remainder of 2020 is that we all stay safe and healthy, so please look after yourself and stay healthy. And remember to buy local and support local businesses – we need you now more than ever.
